Dr. Sandeep N. Shah is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon. He grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Putnam City High School. His undergraduate education was at Oklahoma City University where he was a double major with a Bachelors in Science in Computer Software Engineering and Biological Sciences. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and was university Valedictorian earning the Letzeiser gold medal.

He attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma and received an M.D. with distinction and selected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society as a junior. During that time, he dedicated a considerable time to basic science research in molecular genetics particularly on Ferritin (a protein that stores iron in cells) at the biochemistry department at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. He pursued residency training at the renowned Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago, where he was selected by faculty to serve as a chief resident in his final year. At the Infirmary, Dr. Shah began developing an appreciation for the complexities of medical and surgical retinal disease. He was fascinated by the challenges of this subspecialty and was inspired by his mentors. He received extensive experience in management of complex eye trauma at the Infirmary which was the designated eye trauma center in Chicago. He has a particular interest and received training in uveitis (auto-immune disease and inflammation of the eye). As a resident, he designed and carried out a randomized clinical trial for diabetic eye disease..

Dr. Shah was selected for a prestigious vitreoretinal fellowship at the The Eye Institute at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and served as a clinical instructor in ophthalmology teaching residents and medical students. In this fellowship, besides managing complex medical and surgical retinal conditions, he gained understanding in the management and treatment of ocular melanoma with plaque radiotherapy. Dr. Shah has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals, authored book chapters, and currently serves as principal investigator in multiple national clinical research trials. He has presented his research at the Association of Research and Vision in Ophthalmology and American Society of Retina Specialists. He has also served as a reviewer for the journals Archives of Ophthalmology and Retina.

After clinical fellowship, Dr. Shah returned home to Oklahoma City to start a private practice. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. His particular clinical interests are the management of complex retinal detachment, diabetic eye disease, and clinical trials. He sees patients in Edmond, Midwest City, Norman, and Elk City.

Dr. Shah enjoys his time off with his family. He is happily married and has two beautiful daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, gardening, and nature. He is also a Koi fish and pond enthusiast.

Dr. Shah's sees patients in offices at Edmond, Midwest City, Norman, and Elk City. Dr. Shah primarily operates at Oklahoma Surgicare and Summit Medical Center. He also has staff privileges at Integris Baptist Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, and St. Anthony Hospital.
