We are proud to be a part of is the DRCR Retina Network which was formed in September 2002 and currently includes over 115 participating sites with over 400 physicians throughout the United States. The DRCR Retina Network is funded by the National Eye Institute (NEI). The NEI is a part of the National Institutes of Health, which is the branch of government that funds medical research. Retina Vitreous Center has been nationally recognized for receiving the Quality research award for the year 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2020 by the DRCR Retina Network. RVC physicians have contributed clinically in multiple studies that were published in prestigious journals such as New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, and Ophthalmology and data of which was presented at national and international ophthalmology meetings. The results of these pivotal trials have affected the standard of care provided by retinal specialists across the world.
Dr. Shah, Dr Phelps, Dr. Ridges, Dr. Hood, and Dr. Grasic serve as investigators for one of the most active clinical retinal research centers in Oklahoma. They are excited to offer our patients novel treatments and approaches to retinal disease. Our surgeons have been the first in Oklahoma to perform gene therapy for wet age-related macular degeneration and place a sustained release device for wet age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
